2025 TAOYUAN MINNAN FESTIVAL-Yi-Ge Parade

The event extends the traditional heritage of Minnan culture while infusing contemporary creativity, transforming the streets once again into a stage for cultural storytelling. Since the Taoyuan City Government established Taiwan’s first Minnan Affairs Committee in 2016, the Minnan Festival has steadily built momentum, year after year, reinforcing the connection between culture and local life. The highlight of the 2025 Taoyuan Minnan Festival is the highly anticipated Yi-Ge Parade. With intensive media promotion, the city government is bringing Taoyuan’s Minnan culture to both national and international audiences, boosting tourism and local industries, and shaping a model of cultural, urban, and environmental symbiosis.

The Yi-Ge Parade is the most vibrant and iconic event of the Taoyuan Minnan Festival. This year, 40 hand-pulled Yi-Ge were on the streets, accompanied by the resounding beat of drums and jubilant singing and dancing, creating a uniquely Taoyuan-style carnival.

It is a collective creation of the city. From float design to parade costumes, residents, schools, and volunteers all contributed to the making and performance. Through dedication and creativity, the community continues Taoyuan’s unique tradition of hand-pulled Yi-Ge floats, bringing together generations to share and rejuvenate tradition in the present.

The once-fading memory of Yi-Ge culture has been revived through this event. As the parade winds through the streets, the laughter of children, applause of elders, and cheers of the community blend into one moving cultural experience. The spirit of neighborhood camaraderie, once deeply rooted in temple fairs of the past, is alive again.
