This project is dedicated to the thoughtful renovation and enhancement of a public performance hall. As a national historic site that has stood for over 40 years, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taiwan has steadily transformed to accommodate a variety of cultural and artistic performances. Nevertheless, the existing facilities have struggled to meet contemporary standards and expectations. With a clear commitment to the principle of “Respecting History, Looking Toward the Future,” this renovation not only aims to preserve the hall’s original architectural integrity but also seeks to integrate cutting-edge stage technology and design features that ensure universal accessibility. By thoughtfully merging the past and the present, this endeavor will significantly enhance the audience experience, ultimately infusing the venue with a vibrant and sustainable artistic and cultural identity. Consequently, the project promises to breathe new life into this historic landmark, making it a cornerstone for future generations to enjoy.

The entrance of the venue is a striking metal water-ripple foyer, where the interplay of light and shadow creates an enchanting sense of spatial depth. This thoughtfully designed transitional space elegantly shifts the atmosphere, preparing audiences for the immersive experience that awaits them in the main area. As guests enter the auditorium, they are greeted by generous seat spacing and staggered seating arrangements, ensuring that every view of the stage is unobstructed. Moreover, the addition of ambient seat lighting and accessible ramps significantly enhances the overall experience, making it welcoming for all. The innovative wraparound seating design at the rear allows audiences to concentrate fully on the performance, free from distractions.

The stage itself is meticulously crafted with a sloped design, which not only elevates audiovisual immersion but also provides the flexibility to adapt to a variety of interactive and diverse performance formats. Above this impressive stage, a state-of-the-art ultra-high-definition 8K screen meets the demands of modern digital projection, promising vivid visuals and clarity. In terms of functionality, the stage machinery has undergone a comprehensive upgrade to incorporate computer-controlled electric hoists. This enhancement not only improves safety but also significantly reduces setup time.
