With modern lifestyles increasingly emphasizing personal well-being and self-expression, this project focuses on achieving a balance between maximized functionality and quality of life within a small-scale dwelling.

This 50-square-meter residence by Sun di Flora is designed for a family of three, including pets. Within this compact footprint, clear spatial hierarchies are articulated, while flexible layouts accommodate a variety of daily activities. Reflecting the homeowners’ philosophy of decluttering and mindful living, a restrained design language translates into a pure and intentional living experience, crafting a serene yet warm everyday atmosphere.

The project employs “Implicit Zoning” to establish spatial order within a compact footprint. At the entry, a shift in flooring materials guides both physical transition and psychological shift. In the public zone, the sofa acts as a visual axis, defining the boundary between the living room and the open study while preserving openness and visual connectivity. The dining area is framed by woodwork extending from wall to ceiling, defining a sense of enclosure and enhancing functional clarity within the open-plan layout.

A consistent visual language prevents fragmentation caused by functional divisions, preserving spatial openness and cohesion. A clean white base is paired with warm wood tones to create a tranquil ambiance, while patterned tiles and terrazzo introduce layered textures within a restrained color palette. Details such as a stone-textured painted TV wall and wood-trimmed beams add subtle visual depth. Integrated light strips and indirect lighting adapt to day and night, shaping varied lighting moods and enriching the sensory experience of daily life.

To accommodate both everyday use and social gatherings, the dining area is precisely proportioned. Even with the dining table extended, circulation remains smooth and unobstructed. In the master bedroom, a raised platform replaces a conventional bed, expanding usable surface area and providing flexibility for co-sleeping or transitional stages as children begin to sleep independently. Facing ample daylight, the platform also serves as a sunlit perch for the family's cat—thereby maximizing the room's multi-functional value.
