This project involves the renovation of a single-story residence for seniors, with an interior area of approximately 102 square meters.
Rooted in Japanese design philosophy, the daily rhythm and spatial order are woven into the breathing interplay of light and shadow. Upon entering, the living, dining, and kitchen areas lack solid walls. Instead, a corridor-free layout softens boundaries, connecting the living axis. Lighting primarily employs indirect illumination—ceiling recessed lights complement lighting concealed within the TV unit and bedside cabinets, layering spatial depth.
The color narrative begins at the entrance, deepening as one moves inward. Eco-friendly mineral paint adorns the walls, where white, beige, and gray tones harmonize. The TV wall boldly features diatomaceous earth, exuding warmth and a sense of breathability that complements the natural texture of light wood grain cabinets.
Utilizing awkward spaces for family storage, a compact 1.6-square-meter storage room lies behind the light green glass door to the left of the sofa. To the right rear, a system cabinet creates an island, preserving the lightness and leisure of morning coffee moments.
The private zone continues this thoughtful design, using glass sliding doors to separate the dressing area. Dual rows of black metal hanging rods blend Japanese design aesthetics with practicality. Both bathrooms were renovated: the master bath replaces hardware hooks with precisely sized niches, giving every bottle and jar its designated home.
