The standalone building is designed with the ground floor as a private bistro bar, while the upper levels serve as residential spaces. Different interior styles shift states of mind, employing contrasting spatial elements to address a range of needs. The bistro on the first floor embraces a deep, unrestrained aesthetic infused with raw, natural elements. It engages all the senses to create a space that is truly immersive and emotionally resonant. On the other hand, the living space on the fourth floor is a serene, Japanese-inspired retreat.
On the ground floor, the bistro entrance unfolds in shades of gray, with seamless dark flooring and stone-like textures that evoke an enclosed feeling of a cave. As the path turns, the space opens up instantly, establishing a striking contrast that adds drama and creates a lasting impression. In the open kitchen, the sights, sounds, and smells of cooking add a dynamic layer to the dining experience, turning a meal into a multi-sensory event. This interaction can enhance the overall dining experience, making it more personal and engaging. The space is composed of layered dark-toned materials. The diffused light passing through the glass blocks can add a sense of depth and dimension to the space, making it feel more spacious and inviting. The glass blocks also serve as a design accent, breaking up the visual weight of the darker palette.
Two floor-to-ceiling columns are the focal points that provide visual anchor while enhancing the architectural character. One is a handcrafted faux-stone pillar, sculpted with specialized coatings to evoke the texture of natural weathering; the other is a raw, solid wood column. Together, they create a striking tension between ruggedness and warmth, between the weathered and the new, echoing the untamed spirit of the space. The walls are finished with multiple layers of hand-applied coatings. This textured surface evokes the warmth of sand and rock, conveying a sense of authenticity and connection with nature.Through the use of raw elements and natural forms, the dining environment offers a sense of ease and freedom, breaking away from a traditional bistro.
