Not So Far, Not Too Close (NSFNTC) explores the fragile connection between humans and the environment, inviting visitors to reflect on their relationship with the natural world. It highlights the environmental crises threatening ecosystems, presenting a symbolic overlap between nature’s delicate balance and human influence.
"NSFNTC" consists of “floating ice” slabs made of precast concrete, arranged in a 2-meter by 2-meter grid with aluminum edging and set into gravel. These slabs feature tactile inlays of animal footprints unique to Quebec, representing species endangered by climate change. This design encourages visitors to engage with the outdoors and rediscover the beauty of nature.
Set within a magical forest, "NSFNTC" transforms the space into a wonderland where visitors of all ages are encouraged to explore, play, and connect. Children can run freely, discovering hidden footprints and learning about local wildlife, while adults reconnect with their inner playfulness. The installation celebrates the joy of being immersed in nature, offering a moment of reflection on the interconnectedness of people and the environment.
"NSFNTC" inspires visitors to recognize their role in preserving the natural world, blending wonder and education to foster a deeper appreciation for our shared planet.
