About The Entry

MycoPulp explores the development of low energy, rapidly renewable composite materials for architecture that are part fabricated part 'grown' . The research process can be summarized as these four steps. First, the project investigates living building materials by using robotic extrusion technology to print waste materials as structural scaffold, in which secondary growth of mycelium takes place in the next step. These bio-composite components, which are a combination of waste material and mycelium, are then assembled and used as part of the building elements. The final step is to explore the adaptive reuse of materials for non-structural building components using Mycopulp material.
