DrayEasy is a platform that reimagines how cargo owners and logistics managers book drayage services. In the past, the service was available only via a desktop website, forcing busy professionals to sit at a computer and endure lengthy processes just to get a single quote; many tasks could take half an hour or more. Our goal as a two‑person design team was to extend the experience to mobile and dramatically reduce the time and effort required to search, compare and book freight.
Upon joining the project, we discovered the platform was losing market share, and user research showed that 67 % of customers felt the order flow on desktop was too slow. By conducting interviews and analysing usage patterns, we learned that 80 % of logistics managers were on the move and needed a faster way to complete orders. Together, we iteratively developed user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high‑fidelity mockups and detailed UI designs to create a dedicated mobile app. Each iteration adhered to branding guidelines, standardised design across the team’s products and incorporated accessibility standards, resulting in a 47 % increase in order quantity and a more inclusive experience.
Key features of the new mobile app include a prominent search bar, reusable history cards for frequent routes, suggested quotes when no results appear and an optional map view to visualise port locations. By optimising the flow and removing unnecessary steps, we reduced the time to complete a search, compare and book action to around five minutes on a smartphone. The redesigned DrayEasy mobile experience officially launched in 2024. Post‑launch metrics analysis revealed a 230 % increase in daily active users, significant reductions in order completion times and a recovery of lost market share. DrayEasy’s redesign demonstrates how extending a web‑only service to mobile, backed by data‑driven design and iterative testing, can transform user satisfaction while aligning with business objectives.
